So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them" (Genesis 1:26-27).
You may know already about the good work being done by JOHN N. CLAYTON in giving credence to Bible stories as being truth rather than fables. This world was created. It's not just an accident. Man didn't evolve. Absolutely no scientific evidence exists to support the basic theory (of humanistic evolution) that there is no creator.

Today (July '97) my friend Charles Phipps has handed me a magazine from a similar defender of the faith who is located in California [John being from mid-America]: Address is FACTS & FAITH, P O Box 5978, Pasadena CA 91117-5978.
The magazine I see before me is a quarterly newsletter of Reasons To Believe (an organization led by Hugh Ross), which is publisher. He can be reached at the address given above or by e-mail at reasons@reasons.org. Both these good men are preachers and also scientists, with John being a teacher of science in high school and Hugh being an astronomer, according to what Charles tells me.
The lead article in the 2nd Quarter 1997 edition of FACTS & FAITH is written by Hugh Ross. Its title is Small-Scale Evidence of Grand-Scale Design, subtitled, Science In The News. He writes, with editing because the article is copyrighted and I've asked no permission to quote it --
An array of new instruments is allowing researchers their closest-ever look at bio-molecules' inner workings, with this new view focusing all the way down to the atomic level. To say the least, the sights now meeting the eyes of biophysicists are awe-inspiring!
Rotary engines are being engineered nowadays in efforts to improve on power and mileage for vehicles. Sealing problems are severe, but improvements are on the way.
Nature's own rotary engine -- no bigger than ten billionths by ten billionths by eight billionths of a meter (who's smart enough to know what size we're here talking about??? except that it's tinier than tiny?) has been discovered by a group of Japanese scientists exploring the crystal structure of the F1-ATPase enzyme.
The tiny motor includes the equivalent of an engine block, a drive shaft, and three pistons. It runs at speeds between 0.5 and 4.0 revolutions per second.
This is not only the smallest motor ever seen, it also, according to Hugh Ross, represents the smallest motor that the laws of physics and chemistry will allow. [Haven't we heard that about ever-smaller discoveries of the past as well?]
A German research team used the new instruments to examine an enormous molecule, the yeast 26S proteasome. [Ray, typing this, says, "If you see I've misspelled some of these words, don't worry, but substitute the correct spelling -- I'm NOT a scientist, or even secretary to one!"]
Although the yeast 26S proteasome is not the largest molecule we know of, it contains over 2,000,000 protons and neutrons and, to date, is the largest non-symmetrical molecule we know about. It's a marvel of nature.
It serves as an intracellular waste-disposal and recycling system!
Within the proteasome, tiny molecules attach markers (called ubiquitin) to waste material (apparently the cell's command center informs the marker molecules which proteins are ready for disposal).
Proteins which are ready for disposal resemble tangled balls of yarn. So, after identifying a tagged protein, the first job of the 26S proteasome is to unfold, untwist, and unravel the "ball." This function is performed by an apparatus at each end of the proteasome.
After the targeted protein is straightened out, the proteasome drags it into its core. It cuts the protein into equal-length segments, having first with a "ruler" inside the proteasome, measured the protein's length.
Cut pieces are ejected from the proteasome. A "sanitation" fleet (other proteins) picks up the pieces, sorts them for reusability, and disposes of the waste!
The complexity of such systems (and these are just two of many) within both the tiny enzyme and the huge yeast reflect an amazing quantity AND quality of information and capabilities built into these particles of matter. We conclude that someone PUT those capabilities there. How COULD it have just happened somehow by accident?
Who structured these molecules, then taught them each one to perform as we now see them doing? Those who believe in God see an obvious answer. Those who doubt that there is a God must seek elsewhere for faith and facts.
Hugh Ross sees these discoveries (only possible because of new machines which enable men to look into microscopic matters we just couldn't see until now) as a formidable challenge to the assumption that life arose on its own over a few million years. The humanistic evolutionary theory denies the existence of a power greater than man. Therefore, they surmise, creation just accidentally happened.
Perhaps, Ross thinks, at least some scientists will be prompted by the newly-known data to reconsider their hypotheses, and now to accept the possibility (which to godly men seems the probability) that living molecules and all living creatures simply mirror the matchless brilliance and power of a Supreme Creator.
God does exist!
